You may be eligible for support if you experienced physical or psychological injury because of a violent crime in British Columbia.

What happened to you matters, and your healing deserves to be supported with care and respect.
At ChangeMoment Mental Health Center, our CVAP counselling services support individuals who have been emotionally or psychologically impacted by violent crime, abuse, assault, family violence, sexual violence, or other traumatic experiences. Our Registered Clinical Counsellors provide in-person CVAP counselling in Coquitlam, BC, and online counselling across British Columbia, helping clients process trauma, rebuild a sense of safety, and receive compassionate support through the Crime Victim Assistance Program. Our team understands that healing after crime can feel overwhelming, and we offer a trauma-informed counselling space where your story is approached with care, dignity, and respect.

You may be eligible for support if you experienced physical or psychological injury because of a violent crime in British Columbia.
Counselling can support survivors of sexual violence, physical assault, intimate partner violence, or other traumatic violations.
Family members may need support when someone they love has been injured or killed because of a crime.
Some witnesses may experience fear, shock, guilt, anxiety, or trauma after seeing or being closely affected by a violent event.
You may feel constantly alert, afraid, disconnected, or unable to relax after what happened.
Work, relationships, sleep, parenting, school, or basic routines may feel much harder after a traumatic experience.
If you have experienced a violent crime in British Columbia and want to access counselling through CVAP, the process usually begins with an application to the Crime Victim Assistance Program.
CVAP stands for the Crime Victim Assistance Program. It is a Government of British Columbia program that may provide financial assistance and benefits to eligible victims of violent crime, immediate family members of injured or deceased victims, and some witnesses. These benefits may include counselling services, medical or dental expenses, prescription drug expenses, protective measures, transportation to counselling, and other supports related to recovery. At ChangeMoment Mental Health Center, we bring a trauma-informed and compassionate approach to CVAP counselling, supporting clients with trauma, abuse, emotional injury, anxiety, depression, grief, relationship wounds, and the long-term impact of painful experiences.

A calm structure, a clear next step, and room to move at your pace.
We begin by helping you feel more grounded, supported, and emotionally safe, especially if your nervous system still feels on alert.
Together, we explore the emotional impact of what happened without rushing you or pushing you to share more than feels manageable.
We support you in reconnecting with yourself, your relationships, your boundaries, and the parts of life that trauma may have interrupted.

Hope turns each moment into Progress.
Progress in CVAP counselling may begin with feeling less alone and more understood. You may start to recognize trauma responses with less shame, feel calmer in your body, sleep more steadily, or feel more able to manage reminders of what happened. Over time, counselling can help you rebuild a sense of safety, strengthen boundaries, reduce fear and self-blame, and move toward life with more stability, confidence, and support.
